County of Rockingham, VA Twenty-Five Cent Note - Dated 1862

This original Confederate County of Rockingham Twenty-Five Cent note is in fair condition and is dated "June 1st, 1862.". Printed on the note is "RECEIVABLE IN PAYMENT OF ALL COUNTY DUES. / Harrisonburg, Va., / 25 / June 1st, 1862. / The County of Rockingham / WILL PAY THE BEARER / TWENTY-FIVE CENTS, / In Current Funds, when presented in sums of ten dollars, / BY ORDER OF THE COURT, / TWENTY-FIVE CENTS" It is signed by the presiding justice. The rear is blank. The paper is moderately crisp with nearly complete borders. There is moderate discoloration, edge damage, creasing, corner folds and several pin holes. It measures approximately 2-1/8 x 4-3/4 inches. This note will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War note or general relic collection.
