Item: Federal 20-Pounder Parrott Shell Nose Portion - Resaca, GA
Cannon: 20-pounder Parrott rifle, 3.67-inch caliber
Construction: Cast iron.
Fuzing: Parrott zinc fuze plug for use with a paper time fuze.
Approximate size: Weight: 5.6 pounds. Diameter: 3.64 inches. Length: 8-3/4 inches.
Condition: Excavated, solid. The surface is moderately pitted. While the fuze adaptor is no longer present, the threads where it once screwed in are visible. Printed on the interior just under of the nose in faded gold marker is "RESACA GA". It has been treated with electrolysis and paraffin so as to preserve the iron, has no repairs and is ready for display.
Recovered: Resaca, GA.
Comments: This Parrott shell nose portion was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated artillery or general relic collection.
