Item: Federal Carbine Sling Buckle - High Quality
Construction: Cast brass with middle bar and rotating tongues.
Use: Fastened the cavalryman's leather sling which carried a carbine.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, unmarked. Its brass has a pleasing brown patina. Both of the original belt attachment tongues are present and freely rotate. There are no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown 
Approximate size: 52 x 84 mm.
