Backmark: "HORSTMANN BROs. & CO. / * PHIL *"
Design: Spread-wing symmetrical eagle with upraised wings and letter "I" in shield.
Construction: High convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. Front covered with gilt. No pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown.

Comments: This large Infantry button was acquired directly from the family of the digger. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
