Item: Federal Infantry Kepi Button with Bit of Leather

Description: The device shows a symmetrical eagle, with upraised wing and an "I" shield on its breast.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 14 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This button has a dusty green patina. There is a small bit of kepi strap leather still tightly lodged around the shank. There are no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.

Comments: This cuff button was acquired directly from the family of E. V. Smith. Mr. Smith, a lifelong Virginia relic hunter who hunted various Civil War sites in central Virginia. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
