Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Insignia


Item: Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Insignia
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass.
 Good, excavated, attachment loops missing. The brass has aged into a very pleasing blended green-brown patina. It is complete with the exception of the tip of the olive branch held in the eagle's right talon. There are several cracks and mild bending but the device is still remarkably solid. There are no repairs. 
Approximate size:
 1-13/16 x 2-7/16 inch.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA.
