Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Plate

Item: Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Plate
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass.
Condition: Fair, excavated, attachment loops missing. The brass has aged into a very pleasing dark green patina. While the plate is remarkably solid, it is incomplete with breaks, cracks and a mild inward bend. There are no repairs.
Approximate size: 1-15/16 x 2-9/16 inches.
Recovered: Fredericksburg, VA area.
