Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Plate

Item: Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Plate
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass.
Condition:
 Fair, excavated, attachment loops missing. The brass has aged into a very pleasing dusty green patina. The body of the plate is slightly concaved with a couple of pinholes. A portion of the arrows and olive branch, held in the eagle's talons, are missing and there are cracks on the lower left portion of the shield and the upper portion of the eagle's right wing. One of the points at the top of the plate is bent downwards. There are no repairs. 
Approximate size:
 1-7/8 x 2-1/2 inches.
Recovered: Unknown.
