Item: Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Plate
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass.
Condition: Good excavated, attachment loops missing. The brass has a pleasing dusty green patina. The body of the plate is slightly concaved. A portion of the arrows held in the eagle's left talons are missing and there is a hairline fracture along the right side of the shield visible if held up to a light. Otherwise, the plate is solid with no repairs.
Approximate size: 1-13/16 x 2-1/2 inches.

Comments: This "Jeff Davis" hat plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War insignia or general relic collection.
