Condition: Very good, still firm and in good solid shape. The title page is inscribed and signed by the author along with inventory pencil notations.  There are no tears, creases, folds, or other markings.
Comments: This rare, out-of-print guide is perfect for any Civil War plate collector. Nearly every page shows the fronts and backs of excavated Federal plates and buckles. Pictured and described are eagle plates, cartridge box plates, and waist belt plates along with manufacturer marked examples of many of them. Manufacturers' marks included are Smith, Gaylord, Boyd, Dingee, Pittman, Wilkinson, Hunter, and Peters. State, militia, and sword belt plates are also pictured and described to include NY, SNY, VMM, and OVM. In the additional images of this guide you will see only a small sampling of what is included as there are many more images, with descriptions, of different plates. The guide is a must have for anyone with an interest in, or is a collector of, Federal Civil War plates especially with an interest in manufacture marked examples.
