"Genl. Lee On Traveler"

SOLD

After the Civil War, there was high demand for a photograph of Lee sitting on Traveler. In September of 1866, photographer Michael Miley captured the original image of Lee on his much loved war horse. This framed black and white lithograph print shows a side view of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, astride his horse, Traveler, in a field with hills in the background. At the bottom edge of the print is the inscription: "Entered According to an Act of Congress in the Year 1876, Lee Monument Association, in the Office of the Library of Congress at Washington, D.C. - Lith. by A. Hoen & Co. Richmond." The print is in overall good condition however, there is foxing on the bottom border of the print. The old solid wood frame is in good condition with some chipping of the interior bottom border. The rear of the frame could be tightened up in a few areas as it is showing its age. The frame measures approximately 21-3/4 x 25-3/4 inches. This framed print of "Lee on Traveler" will be an excellent addition to any home or office.
