Design: Georgia state coat of arms on a plain field with no ribbons.
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 14 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, shank missing. Ample gilt remains nicely highlighting the three classical pillars and arch with rays. No pushes, cracks, or repairs.
Recovered: Seven Days Battles area.
Reference: Tice: GA218As1 Albert: GA 7
Comments: According to "Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865" by Warren K. Tice, these (buttons) are the only Georgia "locals" known to exist in small size. This Confederate Georgia state seal coat button will be an excellent addition to any Civil War button or general relic collection.
