This excavated horse harness heart martingale is in very good condition and is constructed of sheet brass with solder fill and brass attachment wires. It was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it from Baltimore County, MD. The brass face of this device has a very pleasing deep green patina with some areas of lighter discoloration. There are minor cracks and breaks in the areas around the rim but these issues do not detract from the overall appearance of this fine cavalry relic. It measures approximately 4 1/2 inches from top to bottom and 2 7/16 inches wide. This martingale will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
