Item: 3.8 inch Type II Hotchkiss Half Shell Nose Section with Display Legs
Construction: Cast iron.
Fuzing: Brass Hotchkiss adaptor for paper time fuze.
Approximate size: Weight: 3 pounds. Diameter: 3.60 inches. Length: 5-5/8 inches.
Condition: Excavated, deactivated. The exterior iron shows moderate pitting and evidence of being lightly clear coated long ago. Two flame grooves are present. Sabot and base cup not present. At some point after its recovery it was sawed in half and three brass rods were well secured into the exterior for display purposes.

Comments: This half shell will not only be an excellent display piece and educational tool, but also a fine addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
