Jeff Davis Hat Insignia

SOLD

Item: Federal "Jeff Davis" Hat Insignia
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass.
Condition:
Very good, excavated, attachment loops missing. The brass has aged into an even dusty green patina with a slight bit of Culpeper County soil still lodged in and around the eagle's head and neck area. At the edge of the device, along the eagle's left wing, are three minor breaks and a small hole. Other than that and minor bending, the device is solid and in great shape. There are no repairs.
Approximate size: 1-7/8 x 2-1/2 inch.
Recovered: Culpeper County, VA.
