Item: Militia Oval Belt Plate - Circa 1812 - Published in Keim
Construction: Cast brass with integral belt hooks. Flat brass washers peened onto studs.
Condition: Very good, excavated. The plate has a green patina. Minor bending and rim edge wear. All three belt attachment hooks are present There are no cracks or breaks.
Recovered: Unknown
Approximate size: 56 x 79 mm.

Comments: There is something very special about owning the example in the book that other collectors refer to and admire. This published plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate, buckle, or general relic collection.
