This excavated pattern-1853 Enfield musket hammer is in its raw, as dug condition, and was recovered from the area of Orange County, VA. The hammer's surface is moderately pitted and remnants of a very light clear coating remains, otherwise it is in good solid shape. It measures approximately 3 inches in length. There are no repairs and it will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War firearm, campsite, battlefield, or general relic collection.
