North Carolina Two Dollar Bill Dated 1863

This North Carolina two dollar bill dated 1863 depicts the state capitol in Raleigh. Stated on the bill is "Will pay TWO DOLLARS to Bearer at the Treasury on or before 1st Jan. 1866. / Raleigh, January 1st.. 1863." It is signed and hand numbered "48". The back is plain with the exception of "32.00" written in light pencil. The bill was issued out of Raleigh, North Carolina and was printed by “J.T. Paterson & Co. Augusta, Ga.”. It is in fair condition with firm paper showing a couple of creases and remnants of clear tape at either end from a former mounting. The bill itself measures 2-3/4 x 6-1/4 inches. It will come in a clear acid free envelope for preservation and display, and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War currency or general relic collection.
