Backmark: Blank
Design: Eight-pointed raised star or "sunburst" on a stippled field with border. Raised letters "NC" in the center on a lined field within a raised ring.
Construction: Low convex, one-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. Dark green patina with very slight body wave. The button has no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown

Comments: The majority of North Carolina sunburst buttons are recovered without their shanks; however, this example was. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
