Comments:  Floral or other ornately designed buttons with or without Civil War period backmarks, though not Civil War military issue, are regularly recovered along with Civil War military issue relics. This particular button was acquired directly from the digger, Robert Braswell, Jr. of Gaston, NC., who recovered many fine relics from both North Carolina and Virginia over several decades. Learn more about Robert and his relic detecting by clicking on his name above. This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated button or general relic collection. Update: During a recent conversation with the Robert, he advised that this particular button was excavated at the same place and, at the same depth, where he was also finding Confederate buttons.
