Item: Federal Infantry Cuff Button
Backmark: "D. EVANS & CO. / SUPERFINE" dm
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 15 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. This button, with its brown patina, has ample gilt nicely highlighting the eagle and shield, with letter "I". It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Charlestown, WV area.
Reference: Tice: GI215A10 Albert: GI 85, 88
Comments: This US infantry button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
