Item: Confederate Artillery Coat Button - Script "A"
Backmark: "(coat of arms) / RIVET'D & SOLDER'D" dm
Construction: Convex, two-piece. Raised lined script letter "A" on a plain field.
Approximate size: 23 mm. 
Condition: Good, excavated, shank present. Button is nearly flat but loaded with gilt and very solid. The shank is pushed flat to the back. The button has no cracks, breaks or repairs. 
Recovered: Fredericksburg, VA area.
Reference: Tice: CSI215A4 Albert: CS 107
Comments: This gilt covered "script A" button, with difficult to find backmark, will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
