Federal Cavalry "Crossed Sabers" Hat Insignia
Item: Federal Cavalry "Crossed Sabers" Hat Insignia
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with soldered on wire loops.
Condition: Good, excavated, attachment loops are missing. There is a break where the saber scabbards originally intersected. The brass has an earthy green patina. Other than the break and minor bending, it is in solid shape.
Approximate size: 1-3/4 x 3-5/8 inch.
Recovered: Northern Virginia area.

Comments: This Cavalry hat insignia was acquired directly from the digger who recovered the two halves within a foot of each other.
