Condition: Very good, excavated. Dusty grey patina with very small surface chip at the tip.

Approximate size:  .371 x .598 inches. Weight: 126.8 grains.

Comments: A similar example of this bullet and a .36 caliber Savage "Navy" revolver can be found in "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Two" by Dean Thomas, on pages 143 & 145, item 917. Another similar .36 caliber Savage bullet is found in "Civil War Projectiles II Small Arms & Field Artillery with Supplement" by W. Reid McKee and M. E. Mason, Jr. on page 28, item # 126. See additional images in this listing for scans of these pages. Hayes revolver bullets are not often recovered and this example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
