This 2.9 inch caliber Read-Parrott "case shot" shell is in excellent condition and was excavated from Malvern Hill area, in eastern Henrico County, VA. The iron sabot and bottom portion of the zinc time fuse adaptor are still present. The overall condition of the iron is very good with minimal surface pitting. The threads are clearly visible where the upper portion of the zinc time fuse adaptor corroded away. It has been deactivated, cleaned, and very lightly clear coated so as to preserve it. Its length is approximately 8 1/4 inches and it weighs approximately 9.6 lbs. This projectile will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
