Item: Federal Sword Waist Belt Buckle - Bench Numbered "896"
Design: A raised eagle with large shield, clutching three arrows in its left talons and an olive branch in its right Above are thirteen stars, a ribbon and rays. A wreath partially surrounds the eagle. All on a stippled background.
Construction: Cast brass with eagle motif and tongue. Applied three-piece nickel-silver wreath.
Condition: Very good, non-excavated. The plate has a nice body curve with an overall dull brass patina. The front has a highly detailed eagle motif. There is minor discoloration on areas the rim. Images of the side views will show file marks on the plate's end edges. The belt attachment bar is present and has a very slight inward bend. The rear retains its belt attachment tongue and is stamped "896" representing its bench number. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs.
Approximate size: 51 x 83 mm.
