Schenkl Shell Shrapnel - Gettysburg Recovery

SOLD

These two excavated Schenkl shell fragments, believed to be from the same shell, were recovered from Gettysburg, PA. It was here that a total of 158,300 troops were involved in battle on July 1-3, 1863 resulting in a Union victory. When combined together their overall measurements are approximately 1.7 x 4.4 inches in width and length and their combined weight is approximately .8 pounds. These Schenkl fragments will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
