State of New York "SNY" Belt Buckle with Leather Patch Marked "J. I. PITTMAN"

Item: State of New York "SNY" Belt Buckle with Leather Patch Marked "J. I. PITTMAN"
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised letters "SNY". Rear with solder fill and stud ("puppy paw") type belt attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated. The brass face has a very pleasing mellow light-brown patina. There is minor inward rim bending from period use. The body of the plate still has a decent body curve. The rear solder is present with the majority of its surface covered by its oval leather patch. Stamped into the leather patch is the supplier's mark of "J. I. PITTMAN". All three belt attachment hooks are present. The buckle has no cracks, breaks. or repairs.   
Approximate size: 55 x 85 mm.

Comments: Buckles with leather patches are a rare find, but finding one which is stamped "J. I. PITTMAN" is super rare. This SNY buckle with stamped patch will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
