US Artillery Belt Buckle Tongue - Marked "Storms"

ON LAYAWAY

Item: US Artillery Two-Piece Belt Buckle Tongue - Marked "STORMS"
Construction:
 Cast brass.
Condition:
Very good, excavated. The brass, with raised letters "US", has a rich green underlying surface patina which is still partially covered with a very light layer of soil residue. The belt attachment bar is fully intact with a very minor inward bend. Stamped into one edge of the belt attachment bar is the manufacturer's mark of "STORMS" and while the stamp is weak, it is definitely there. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered:
 Yorktown, VA area.
Approximate size:
Belt keeper height: 55; Overall length: 58 mm; Tongue disc diameter: 34 mm.

Comments:  Finding either half of a two-piece US artillery buckle is a rarity, especially if marked. In the event you have an artillery outer ring that could fit, contact me and I will provide more measurements if needed. This US artillery buckle tongue - marked "STORMS" will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
