US Belt Buckle - Belt Leather Piece - Bloody Angle

Item: US Waist Belt Buckle - Belt Leather Piece - Bloody Angle - High Quality
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised letters "US". Rear with solder fill and stud type belt attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front has a smooth rich brown patina. Printed in what is believed to be light pencil directly above the letters "US" is "BLOODY ANGLE / SPOTSYLVANIA". The mark is barely visible under normal room lighting however visibility is greatly improved if the buckle is turned at an angle and under a light. The rim is intact and in good shape with only a slight downward bend a the "U" end. The rear has a full complement of solder which is solid and smooth. All three belt attachment hooks are present. Securely lodged under the two studs is a small portion of the original leather waist belt. The buckle has no cracks, breaks, repairs or other bends.
Recovered: In the area of The Bloody Angle, Spotsylvania, VA.
Approximate size: 56 x 86 mm.
