Item: US Belt Buckle - Stud Hooks - High Quality
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised letters "US". Rear with solder fill and stud (aka "puppy paw") type attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front has a very pleasing dusty chocolate brown patina. The rim is fully intact and in good shape. The rear has a complete complement of solder. All three belt attachment hooks are present. The single belt hook on the rear is bent slightly downwards to the solder. The buckle has no cracks, breaks or repairs.
Recovered: Malvern Hill, VA area.
Approximate size: 54 x 85 mm.
Comments: This excavated belt buckle is a top-notch example and, if you are looking for a quality excavated example, then this on is it. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle, plate, or general relic collection.
