Item: US Waist Belt Buckle - Arrow Type Hooks
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised letters "US". Rear with solder fill and arrow type attachment hooks.
Condition: Very good, excavated. Its brass front, with its distinctive tall letters, has a tan-brown patina. The rim is fully intact with a very minor dent under the lower serif of the letter "S". The rear solder is present with moderate surface flaking and lead loss in the area of the rim. All three attachment hooks present. The plate has no cracks, breaks, bends or repairs.
Recovered: In the area of Unison, VA
Approximate size: 56 x 87 mm.
Comments: This US waist belt buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle, plate, or general relic collection.
