US Cartridge Box Plate

Item: Excavated US cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass front, with raised letters "US", has a very nice dirty brown patina. The brass face has no cracks, breaks, bends or repairs. The rear has nearly all of its solder but does show some minor surface flaking. It appears that at one time it may have been attached to a cloth covered surface for display puposes as there is a very light coating of clear epoxy on a portion of the rear. Its iron attachment loops are no longer present.

Approximate size: 58 x 89 mm
Comments: This cartridge box plate will be an excellent display piece and nice addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
