There is a moderate inward bend in the body of the plate. The rear has a near complete complement of solder with minimal loss at one end. The stamped mark of "J. IDEN / 137 ELM ST. N.Y." is partially present. The plate has no cracks or repairs.

See above page in additional images.
Comments: Plates recovered with the "IDEN" stamp are very rare. In my many years of handling plates in general, I have come across only three examples with the "IDEN" mark, two excavated and one non-excavated examples.
The plate was acquired directly from the Catlett brothers when they sold their plate collection in 2018. The Catlett's (Roger, Earl, & Allan) lived on the Chancellorsville Battlefield and began hunting in the 1940's. This hard-to-find buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War accoutrement plate or general relic collection.
This is an excellent opportunity to add a very rare "IDEN" marked US cartridge box plate to any Civil War accoutrement plate or general relic collection.
