US Cartridge Box Plate - Tunstall Station

Item: Excavated US cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Good, excavated. Its brass front, with the raised letters "US", has a brown/green patina.  The rear has nearly all of its solder with a thin layer of woodsy material build-up.  Its two iron attachment loops are no longer present.
Recovered: Tunstall Station, New Kent County, VA
Approximate size: 54 x 85 mm.
Comments:  This relic was acquired directly from the family of the now deceased digger who hunted Civil War trails, campsites, and battle sites throughout central Virginia for several decades. The display case and its label will be included and this cartridge box plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
