US Naval Fuze Dated 1863

This US Naval water-cap fuze dated 1863 is in good condition. Its bushing and water-cap are present and the top is clearly stamped "ORD 1863 ." with an anchor symbol. It has a dark brass patina with some patches of black and its threads are in fair condition. It measures approximately 2.44 inches in length and its head diameter is 1.26 inches. An example of this type fuze is pictured and described in the artillery fuze reference book "Artillery Fuses of the Civil War" by Charles H. Jones, on page 10. This Naval fuze will be an excellent addition to any Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
