Item: US Waist Belt Buckle - Arrow Type Hooks
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised tall letters "US". Rear with solder fill and arrow type attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front has a light orange-brown patina. The rim is fully intact with two very minor dents, one above the letter "U" and the other to the right of the letter "S" at the three-thirty o'clock position. The rear solder is smooth and complete. There are three small carved lines in the design of a star next to the belt attachment tongue. All attachment arrow hooks are present. The buckle has no cracks, breaks, bends or repairs.
Recovered: Marlborough Point, VA.
Approximate size: 56 x 86 mm.
Comments: This fine US waist belt buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle, plate, or general relic collection.
