US Waist Belt Buckle
Item: US Waist Belt Buckle - Stud Hooks
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised large letters "US". Rear with solder fill and stud belt attachment hooks.
Condition: Excellent, excavated. Its brass front has a mottled brown patina. There is a light layer of encrusted soil on a portion of the front and rim. There is a very small u-shaped hole in the rim above the "S" which may be a manufacturing flaw, otherwise the rim is complete. The rear solder is smooth and complete. All three belt attachment hooks are present. There are no cracks, breaks, repairs or major bends.
Recovered: Boonsboro, MD.
Approximate size: 54 x 84 mm.
Comments: This waist belt buckle was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any Civil War buckle, plate, or general relic collection.
