 The note depicts John Letcher, Virginia Governor, at left, Ceres seated with basket (center) and steamship in background at right. It was printed in black with a red overlay of "ONE" and the numeral "1" shown twice, all on plain paper. The note is hand numbered and signed in black ink. Printed on the note is: "VIRGINIA TREASURY NOTE / The Commonwealth of Virginia will pay ONE DOLLAR to bearer on demand at the Treasury. / RICHMOND / July 21 1862". "HOYER & LUDWIG, RICHd". The back of the note is blank.
Approximate size: 2-7/8 x 7 inches.
Condition:
 Rough. Soft paper with incomplete borders, discoloration, edge wear, creases, tears, & folds. No repairs.
Comments: This original Virginia Treasury Note will come in a new sturdy, clear, 3-1/2 x 7-13/16 inch display sleeve for preservation and display. It will be an excellent addition to any Civil War currency or general relic collection.
