Item: War of 1812 Infantry Officer's Coat Button

Construction: One-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, shank present. The details on the face are worn but there is some silver plate still present in the lined field nicely outlining the eagle and shield. This early solid button has no damage or repairs.
Recovered: Caroline County, VA.
Reference: Albert: GI 51F
Comments: This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
