Comments: At one time this buckle was in the well-known collection of James A. Hart. Several buckles and plates from his collection were included as fine examples in the above-mentioned reference book. A pre-owned copy of this book is also available, just let me know if interested. In addition to the buckle's historical significance, what I also appreciate is its early manufactured fine finished front and crude finished rear. This published belt plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle or general relic collection.
