Parrott "Short" Time Fuze Adaptor

SOLD

This Parrott "short" time fuze adaptor is in very good condition and was acquired directly from the digger's family whose property is directly adjacent to the Appomattox River and within 2 miles of the Petersburg Battlefield. This fuze adaptor is constructed of zinc and would have been screwed into the nose of the artillery shell with a paper time fuze inserted into the hole in its center.  If you like that fresh out of the ground appearance, then this is for you, as it has had little or no cleaning.  The threads of the fuze appear to still be in good condition and, with some detailed cleaning, it could likely screw into a shell. Its diameter measures approximately 1.12 inches and its length is approximately 1.42 inches. This fuze adaptor has no cracks, breaks, dents, or repairs and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
