Fort Meikle

Fort Meikle was a Civil War earthwork fort near Petersburg, VA, built by the Union in 1864, named for Lt. Col. George Meikle, situated by the Petersburg & Norfolk Railroad to defend against Confederate attacks, but it no longer exists today, likely destroyed by modern development like interstate construction after being visible into the mid-20th century.
