“JUST FOR THE RECORD”

Glenn Trimmer RS

The Glenn Allen Trimmer Collection

In 1971 a teenage Glenn Trimmer read an article in the daily newspaper regarding a notable Civil War relic collector and digger located in the Richmond, Virginia area by the name of Gary Williams.  Glenn contacted Mr. Williams and boldly asked if he would take him relic hunting. Mr. Williams agreed to take him and within the first fifteen minutes of that hunt, Glenn recovered his first relic which just happen to be a 12-pounder Confederate cannonball.

That’s all it took, and he was hooked!

For the next several decades Glenn amassed a sizeable collection by hunting relics primarily in the Virginia area and always with the permission of the landowner. He began keeping detailed records of his many finds in two journals. The first journal Glenn compiled consisted of over 70 pages of handwritten entries enumerating each and every relic recovered including the date and location of recovery often denoting any interesting details about the relic or hunt.

In the 1990s with the advancement of computer technology, Glenn’s second journal was maintained in a binder with over 100 computer generated pages containing the same information as the first, but now with color images and maps detailing exact recovery locations in some instances.

Sadly, Glenn passed away in 2024 however he left us with an excellent relic record of his finds for all to learn from and enjoy.
