Bullet in Wood

SOLD

This "bullet in wood" consists of a fired bullet securely lodged within a chunk of wood. Recovered in the area of Wilderness, VA., it measures approximately 7/8 x 1-3/8 inches and weighs a little over one ounce. What can be seen of the base of this deformed bullet, combined with its weight, leads me to believe that it may be a .58 caliber "three ringer". Only further removal of the wood would aid in definitively identifying it, however this is not recommended. This bullet in wood will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet, battlefield or general relic collection.
