Item: Non-excavated US eagle plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and iron wire loops.
Condition: Excellent. Its brass face has an untouched attic deep brown patina with a well-defined eagle, clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left. There is a very slight dent in the rim at the 11-12 o'clock position. The rear has a complete complement of solder with both iron atteachment loops. One loop is slightly bent. The plate has no cracks, breaks, repairs, or major bends.
Comments: This plate will be an excellent addition to any Civil War period US cartridge box sling needing a plate with good solid loops or simply displayed in any Civil War plate or general collection.
Approximate diameter: 63 mm.
Approximate distance between loops at base: 46.73 mm (1.83 inches)
