Eagle Plate

Item: Excavated US eagle plate.
Construction:
Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and iron attachment loops.
Condition:
Good, excavated, solid. Its brass face has a mixed brown patina with a detailed eagle clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left. There is a small rust bump on the eagle's left talons. The rear solder has a complete complement of solder with one complete attachment loop and a portion of the other. There is a very slight period bend at the rim near the complete loop, but otherwise, it has no cracks, breaks, repairs, or major bends.

  63 mm.
Comments:
  This eagle breast plate will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
