Item: Federal Artillery Style "Bullseye" Bridle Rosette
Construction: Stamped sheet brass with solder fill and brass wire loop.
Approximate size: 1-5/8-inch diameter.
Condition: Very good, excavated, attachment device missing. Brass front has a brown patina with three hairline fractures extending from the rim towards the first raised area. The rim is complete but does have a few tiny splits but nothing major. The rear solder is nearly complete with the exception of the areas around where the attachment device was anchored. The rosette is in good form and has a slightly smaller diameter than the 1-3/4-inch size I've typically encountered over the years. No bends or repairs.
Recovered: Quantico, VA area.

See above pages in additional images.
Comments: This excavated US cartridge box plate was acquired directly from the Virginia digger. Included in the additional images is an image of the digger (on left), with his hunting buddies and their detectors dating to the 1970-80s. Also included is an image showing its use. The rosette will be an excellent addition to any Civil War rosette, artillery or general relic collection.
