Item: Federal Cavalry Spur - Marked "Allegheny Arsenal" and "2"
Construction: Cast brass.
Approximate size: 2-15/16 x 4-1/4 inches.
Condition: Very good, excavated. A solid spur with an overall brown-bronze patina. Its rowel is no longer present. No bends, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Stafford County, VA.
Reference: Images and descriptions of a similar Allegheny marked spur are found in the following Civil War reference books:
See scans of above pages in the additional images.
Comments: The majority of spurs recovered are un-marked. The numeral "2" represents its size. This marked Federal spur will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War spur, Cavalry, or general relic collection.
Note: Another available "Allegheny Arsenal" marked spur, size "1", with a similar matching patina, is also available on this site, listed as PC8020. As long as both pairs are available, they can be purchased together at the discounted price of $370.00. Just let me know if interested.
