Condition: Excellent, excavated, shank missing. These buttons are typically recovered without their shanks. This example has excellent detail, a smooth surface and a very pleasing even brown patina with no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: During the 1970s from the Petersburg, VA area.

Comments: The detail on the face of this attractive button, combined with its brown patina, makes it one of finest examples I have come across. It will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
